Cause related marketing partnerships
Burton
Menswear giants Burton
won the 'Best Business Charity Partnership' award by the Institute of Fundraising for its 2006 World Cup campaign in partnership with our Bobby Moore Fund.
This partnership raised just under £200,000 to take forward our research into bowel cancer, but more importantly it enabled us to reach the public with important bowel cancer education messages. For more details on the 2006 World Cup campaign see below.
Don't need it? Donate it
Burton teamed up again with Cancer Research UK in 2007 to help us beat cancer. During September, Burton encouraged their staff and customers to donate quality clothes and accessories to Cancer Research UK shops in return for £5 off their next purchase at Burton.
The campaign resulted in the equivalent of £75,000 worth of donated stock being dropped off at our shops all much appreciated as our shops rely on the donation of good quality clothes. Thank you to everyone who got involved.

The 2006 World Cup award-winning partnership
Burton suited and booted the winning World Cup team of '66. To mark the 40th anniversary of this victory Burton produced an exclusive range of merchandise in aid of the Bobby Moore Fund.
Over £190,000 was raised through the sale of the following stylish products:
- Lucky wristband designed around a woven football boot lace in England's colours
- Iconic t-shirt of Bobby Moore holding the winning trophy in '66
- Limited edition t-shirts designed by Michael Owen, Ashley Cole and Joe Cole.
Press and in-store coverage
The partnership gained widespread coverage in The Sun, The Daily Telegraph, Hello, Now and GQ Magazines. With in-store marketing featuring Michael Owen, the campaign 'We can be Heroes' really touched Burton customers.
Health awareness messaging
Not only was Burton keen to raise funds for the Bobby Moore Fund, they were committed to raising the profile of bowel cancer which kills around 45 people every day in the UK. Burton produced branded bowel cancer awareness leaflets that were distributed in their 400 stores.
What Burton says
"Burton is proud to be supporting the Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK. We have a long running connection with football since suiting the winning England team which Bobby Moore captained. We were honoured to be helping to raise money for the fund and to promote their message through our stores."
